We all woke up at 7am to START make up and costumes and didn't finish until 1:50 pm, which was good cause our shoot was 2pm.
So after extensive bodypainting with the airbrushes and all the extras of eyelashes and absurd nails before costume, the group spends something like four hours in the shoot with two different photographers. There was a lot of us lol.
We ended up with a little less than an hour to get to the artist alley and dealers hall before it closed. making us book it everywhere we went. Of course, on the way down from getting my money and such out of the hotel room is when I got stuck in an elevator for an hour and completely missed the rest of the con.
My Little Pony was, by far, one of the most challenging days to be had at the convention. I enjoyed the way it looked and how everything turned out but I don't think any of us will be doing the full body paint again any time soon. lol
Your Rarity cosplay is diffidently one of the more unique and creatively executed I've seen from DeviantART. And with that said, is there's any chance we'll be seeing more pictures related to it (from this con of course)?
Also, just as a bit of nerd sharing, my only (at least for now) contribution to MLP fan art: [link]
LMFAO I love Rarity's face there. She looks so overjoyed.
I don't have a lot of these photos because our group was so massive, individuals didn't get a ton of work. I have a few of Apple Jack and Rarity together that I haven't posted but that's because I'm a little nervous about posting them. For no reason really. lol
Thanks for the comment on my Spike / Rarity piece.
No kidding! You're group is big, and the preparation nightmares you've mentioned are more than understandable. If 'nerd conventions' were open well into the late night hours (like a certain Godzilla convention I attend way back in 1998), than all the effort would be worth it...or at least just a tad extra more.
Still though, your Rarity is one of the better MLP costumes I've seen online, and as hesitant as you are on posting extra images, they can't be no worse than my deliberately silly attempt seen here: [link]
Needless to say, I decided NOT to take this out in public.
You look fantaaaaaaastic I don't even know where to begin! All the details are just so perfect for Rarity, and some of my favorite touches are how that shoe style looks like hooves, and the fact that you put earrings on the pony ears. <3
And I can totally relate to the body paint agony. We had to do that too for Adventure Time and everyone was kind of traumatized by the process, hahaha!
Oooh I'm beyond honored you like this piece. Rarity has been, by far, one of the most troublesome and difficult pieces for me to pull off. Yeah, the body painting was intense and took forever but I think once we got it into place... totally worth it. Lol it looks like you used the exact same kinda body paint as me too XD! I was super concerned about touching anyone for a while because... well... I was white and everyone else was just... not. Thank god the stuff didn't come off.
But then again...... the stuff did NOT come off. I was scrubbing at it for EVER.
Anyway! Thank you for noticing all the details and commenting <3
