Microsoft Employees Disrupt Wii U Best Buy EventsRemember how Nintendo was showcasing some of their E3 games at participating Best Buy stores around the country? Well, apparently Microsoft employees have been hired to go to these events and preach about the Xbox One and make comments like "why would you buy a outdated Wii U when the Xbox One is right around the corner?"
However, the employees aren't getting what they hoped for. Most customers just start bashing the Xbox One in response. Seriously, Microsoft, the people attending these Best Buy Wii U events are people who are intimately familiar with the crap you pulled at E3. They ain't takin' your shit.
At first I thought this might just be a case of one really loyal Microsoft employee taking matters into his own hands (especially since the original source was /v/), but reports have come in from numerous Best Buy's around the country that indicate many Microsoft employees have ambushed the demo lines trying to persuade people to switch to the Xbox One.

The Used Game ParadigmOver the course of this past generation I've been watching the video game market react to the way it's been forced to deal with increasing changes. I've come out against used game sales and even written a journal about boycotting GameStop because (like most people at the time) I believed they were the root cause of all the problems the video game industry has. But that's something I don't believe now as intently as i did then. From where I sit, piracy and used games sales are a problem, but not in the way game companies want us to believe that they are.
Used games are a good thing for consumers. We get to try games out, and if we don't like what we see or finish it early, we trade it in and try another title instead. It's a very good system for us since video game rentals are much harder to come by. Most video rental stores in America have gone extinct and outside specific Red Box Kiosks there aren't a lot of places for consumers to rent video games. The exception, of course, being thr

Please Pants Responsibly (Paper Notebooks FTW)

There are two ways to write a novel. Plotting (you make an outline, a plan, a roadmap if you will, and then you sit down and write it) and pantsing (you write "by the seat of your pants, throwing caution to the wind). So when I get asked if I'm a plotter or a pantser, I'm all like er, uh, hold on, let me? Pantser? I think? But I kind of, um, do planny things?
And it gets kind of awkward because in these inarticulate moments I have managed to confuse everyone including myself. And probably spilled a drink.
In recent discussions, however, I've had a bit of a revelation, silly as it is. I've realized that I -- like many writers -- am a plotter/pantser hybrid. And perhaps what I'm doing is something we could call Pantsing Responsibly. And, maybe, just maybe, I could share some of my responsible pantsing tips with other writers. Starting with paper notebooks.

SPIKE updatesJust thought I'd share with you guys some updates on the progress of finishing my "SPIKE" novel.

Music Is My Inspiration ContestWell guys I've decided to start my own contest, because I had awesome feedback on the idea ^_^
It'll be my first contest that I've held...EVER! So it's very exciting :3

I went. I saw. I spent most of my time in photoshoots D:!

Outside of not really getting to see the actual con, I had fun. It was nice to see everyone who I actually got to see and I very much enjoyed the post-con hang out with all my friends and family.

The only outstanding thing was the elevator incident on Sunday. I was tired from 8 hours of make up and 5 hours of photoshoot so I went to the room to get my money and then go get food. I stepped on the elevator on the 10th floor and 30 seconds after the door closed, the elevator stopped. Me and 14 other people were stuck halfway between the 9th and 10th floor. For over an hour.

Imagine being trapped in a sauna in full makeup and cosplay. I mean, it could have been worse but.... it sucked.

So after lamenting over having to undo half my costume just to keep from overheating, the doors are finally opened and several people pull us all out one by one. Glorious day! Everyone in my crew was there to greet me and the upside to this whole thing? MY MAKE UP WAS STILL FLAWLESS. Praise sweat proof makeup! That and the free water and pizza plus extras the hotel provided as a "please don't sue us" clause.

Turns out, because the elevators aren't used to such continuous use throughout the year, at Fanime they tend to overheat. And apparently when they overheat, they stop. Awesome. So a warning for next year: if you're less than ten floors up, use the stairs.

After that things were good until Monday night when I got con sars. Or con plague. Ew. Everyone in my group caught it and most of us are still sick but working diligently for Anime Expo.

we were on the 14th floor and the elevators were making some pretty creepy noises XD when my friends went on a midnight french fry run on sunday, the elevator stopped on like the 5th floor or something and while the doors were open the elevator started to move up and down a bit so they freaked and ended up walking the rest of the way XD we didn't get stuck though, but hey! that is a pretty great accomplishment having your makeup stay perfectly on through it
