Got back last week from the Supernatural Con in Vancouver with

and it was
strange. I mean.. wow. What a crazy difference between that kind of con and an anime con. Now, I've been to other types of conventions (fantasy, scifi, comic book etc..) and this was certainly it's own category.
There wasn't a whole lot to do, first off, and everything was a seated event. There wasn't much interaction between attendees and the amount of money it cost to do stuff there was absurd. I mean, thank god I saved up and prepaid for the things I wanted to do but I ended up skipping out on a LOT of other stuff because I just couldn't reasonably afford to do it.
Now, the dealer's room was ridiculous. It was all official merchandise so there were only 4 tables total. Seriously, no exaggeration there. 4 tables and that's it. They sold: shirts, cups, mugs, necklaces, calendars and printed glossy screen photos. All of which was completely over priced and I refused to spend any hard earned money on it because I'm a reasonable person when it comes to my funds. I'd much rather eat, thank you lol.
If that wasn't strange enough.. The people were their own species. Lots of older women (around their 30's) who don't dress up at all. Seriously, me and mine were some of the only ones in costume. Like.. 2 people were wearing horns, 2 more were in Castiel trench coats (but no wigs or effort), 1 was dressed up like Sam and 1 was dressed up like bobby. The rest were in normal clothes. And I gotta say, they weren't exactly friendly to those in costume because they did a lot of "WHY are you wearing a costume?" To which I responded "Uh.. Why NOT? We're at a convention that has a costume contest, are you really asking me this?"
Talk about weird. We were practically only complimented by the Staff, the celebrity GUESTS (which was awesome) and the people on the sidewalk outside the convention XD! Go figure.
Other than that, I got everyone to stay in a youth hostel for the duration of our time in Canada and it was AWESOME! Free breakfast and different languages abound! It was like staying in a dorm room but we got our own private bathroom and bunk beds! We made forts. It was AWESOME. We toured around the great city (walked everywhere) and even went clubbing. It was glorious. Would have been better if the Hostel staff weren't bent on giving us wrong directions to everything. Lol
All in all, I enjoyed my time with my friends, the celebrity guest panels were hilarious and Canada is always worth it.
Now.. Time to work like crazy on Yaoi Con costumes @_@! I'm so out of time. Lol
Much love to all
