Microsoft Employees Disrupt Wii U Best Buy EventsRemember how Nintendo was showcasing some of their E3 games at participating Best Buy stores around the country? Well, apparently Microsoft employees have been hired to go to these events and preach about the Xbox One and make comments like "why would you buy a outdated Wii U when the Xbox One is right around the corner?"
However, the employees aren't getting what they hoped for. Most customers just start bashing the Xbox One in response. Seriously, Microsoft, the people attending these Best Buy Wii U events are people who are intimately familiar with the crap you pulled at E3. They ain't takin' your shit.
At first I thought this might just be a case of one really loyal Microsoft employee taking matters into his own hands (especially since the original source was /v/), but reports have come in from numerous Best Buy's around the country that indicate many Microsoft employees have ambushed the demo lines trying to persuade people to switch to the Xbox One.

Please Pants Responsibly (Paper Notebooks FTW)

There are two ways to write a novel.  Plotting (you make an outline, a plan, a roadmap if you will, and then you sit down and write it) and pantsing (you write "by the seat of your pants, throwing caution to the wind).  So when I get asked if I'm a plotter or a pantser, I'm all like er, uh, hold on, let me?  Pantser?  I think?  But I kind of, um, do planny things?
And it gets kind of awkward because in these inarticulate moments I have managed to confuse everyone including myself. And probably spilled a drink.
In recent discussions, however, I've had a bit of a revelation, silly as it is. I've realized that I -- like many writers -- am a plotter/pantser hybrid.  And perhaps what I'm doing is something we could call Pantsing Responsibly.  And, maybe, just maybe, I could share some of my responsible pantsing tips with other writers. Starting with paper notebooks.

The Used Game ParadigmOver the course of this past generation I've been watching the video game market react to the way it's been forced to deal with increasing changes. I've come out against used game sales and even written a journal about boycotting GameStop because (like most people at the time) I believed they were the root cause of all the problems the video game industry has. But that's something I don't believe now as intently as i did then. From where I sit, piracy and used games sales are a problem, but not in the way game companies want us to believe that they are.
Used games are a good thing for consumers. We get to try games out, and if we don't like what we see or finish it early, we trade it in and try another title instead. It's a very good system for us since video game rentals are much harder to come by. Most video rental stores in America have gone extinct and outside specific Red Box Kiosks there aren't a lot of places for consumers to rent video games. The exception, of course, being thr

I've got two news for you guys today though: one bad news and one good news. Let's start with the bad news.

The Scatter-Brained Yaoi Con Report

Well ,okay, here goes.. lol

Friday

We actually got to the con at a decently early time, no thanks to our GPS Hans who is renown for trying to get us killed on purpose, with :iconblackfruitbat: and :iconraven-unit: in tow.  Parking was the easier thing ever and turned out to be like.. $5 a night for yaoi con guests. Seriously? Homg.  Anyway!

We were in our X/1999 Kamui and Fuma outfits which we did for :iconmeredish: :3! Very exciting stuff.  

Not a lot happened (we didn't really attend many events or anything) but we DID party that night with :iconkoicosplay: :iconmeredish: :iconeclecticmaniac: :iconmeredish: :iconraven-unit: :iconblackfruitbat:  :iconsheniji: :iconlittlew-o-l-f: :icongbright1: and it was a blast with lots of good friends and lots of laughs.

Saturday

Steampunk fun times! I have to say, I was so VERY very impressed with everyone and their outfits that it nearly made me cry. :iconadmantius: :iconalcblueyes: :iconblackfruitbat: :iconeclecticmaniac: as well as a friend of ~EclecticManiac all did a stunning job and clearly worked very hard. Soo awesome!

:iconmeredish: :iconsupernovadobe: my friend Oli and myself all put on a skit called "I Didn't Meme To Hurt You by Last Missed Chance" found here: [link] right. Some of the members of Last Missed Chance did a production together XD!  I'll later be uploading a version of the skit with CC so you can better understand what we're saying.

The up and up? The Skit won best group performance :3!

After that 99% of :iconkoicosplay: and friends got together to do a game with the audience during the intermission called "Guess who I slept with last night". Basically we draw names out of a hat and let the audience ask questions to try and figure out which characters slept with each other. The results were pretty hilarious imo XD!

So we ended the night with parties and dancing and good times all around.

Sunday

Such a goof off day. Naru and I did Tales of Vesperia in their school boy outfits and it was mostly just a lot of fun.  Ran into :icongnarlycat: who is one of my all time favorite Weiss Kreuz authors and (because of that) I acted like a total mouth breather lol.

So yeah. We just ran around and played with people, had a lot of laughs and a lot of candy because it was Halloween.  Eventually :iconkoicosplay: :icondoukana: :iconeclecticmaniac: :iconraven-unit: :iconblackfruitbat: :iconterror-and-candy: :iconcaineyamiyasha: made it out to go to dinner where :iconeclecticmaniac: arrange an ice cream surprise for our anniversary. Super sweet T__T! Waffles to my crew.

Thank you to everyone who came and said hi to Naru and I during the con! We got to meet some cool kids and received some amazingly awesome presents too!  Honestly, I was overwhelmed with the awesome of everyone there so thanks everyone for being epic and making this Yaoi con one of the best I've ever attended.

Dude, all the steampunks -slayed- me with so much gorgeous detailing. It was such a beautiful sight @----@ And that parking WAS THE BEST THING EVER OMG.

The partying was amazing, the cosplays were amazing, the sunday dinner was amazing... definitely my favorite con this year. <3

But now seriously... we need to start hunting card core for D/C doujinshi. :/ No more missing chances!

It is nice to hear that you had a good time and enjoyed yourself.

I'm hoping that I can find someone to attend my semi-local (as in, within driving distance but a bit long to drive back and fourth each day) convention because my group from last year was filled.

It's that or drive out there for maybe a day... It's two hours away depending on traffic and also has about five tolls along the main easy road...

I'd rather pay a hundred or so bucks to stay there overnight than have to go through that trek three times. Besides, there's the additional issue of what time things take place and cosplay stuff and all that. I know it's a pain, and I've never had to do it. It's enough of a pain getting things together to just stay there overnight. >_<
