Microsoft Employees Disrupt Wii U Best Buy EventsRemember how Nintendo was showcasing some of their E3 games at participating Best Buy stores around the country? Well, apparently Microsoft employees have been hired to go to these events and preach about the Xbox One and make comments like "why would you buy a outdated Wii U when the Xbox One is right around the corner?"
However, the employees aren't getting what they hoped for. Most customers just start bashing the Xbox One in response. Seriously, Microsoft, the people attending these Best Buy Wii U events are people who are intimately familiar with the crap you pulled at E3. They ain't takin' your shit.
At first I thought this might just be a case of one really loyal Microsoft employee taking matters into his own hands (especially since the original source was /v/), but reports have come in from numerous Best Buy's around the country that indicate many Microsoft employees have ambushed the demo lines trying to persuade people to switch to the Xbox One.

Please Pants Responsibly (Paper Notebooks FTW)

There are two ways to write a novel. Plotting (you make an outline, a plan, a roadmap if you will, and then you sit down and write it) and pantsing (you write "by the seat of your pants, throwing caution to the wind). So when I get asked if I'm a plotter or a pantser, I'm all like er, uh, hold on, let me? Pantser? I think? But I kind of, um, do planny things?
And it gets kind of awkward because in these inarticulate moments I have managed to confuse everyone including myself. And probably spilled a drink.
In recent discussions, however, I've had a bit of a revelation, silly as it is. I've realized that I -- like many writers -- am a plotter/pantser hybrid. And perhaps what I'm doing is something we could call Pantsing Responsibly. And, maybe, just maybe, I could share some of my responsible pantsing tips with other writers. The Used Game ParadigmOver the course of this past generation I've been watching the video game market react to the way it's been forced to deal with increasing changes. I've come out against used game sales and even written a journal about boycotting GameStop because (like most people at the time) I believed they were the root cause of all the problems the video game industry has. But that's something I don't believe now as intently as i did then. From where I sit, piracy and used games sales are a problem, but not in the way game companies want us to believe that they are.
Used games are a good thing for consumers. We get to try games out, and if we don't like what we see or finish it early, we trade it in and try another title instead. It's a very good system for us since video game rentals are much harder to come by. Most video rental stores in America have gone extinct and outside specific Red Box Kiosks there aren't a lot of places for consumers to rent video games. The exception, of course, being thr

So I never got around to submitting you guys my report for 2009. Partially because I'm lazy, partially because I'm so busy and partially because... 2009 sucked SO fucking hard that I didn't deem it worthy to write about. Sincerely, I would label it as one of the worst years I've had in the last decade. In fact, it only falls short of 1999 because I didn't have multiple funerals to attend.

So, long story short, '09 was as rough as thick sandpaper, mentally traumatizing, and all around gawd awful.

I would say here's to hoping 2010 is better but, quite literally 1 minute into the new year and there was already a shit storm brewing at my door. So here's to hoping I get through 2010 relatively unmarred while waving goodbye to all the bullshit of '09 with two birds on either hand and a raspberry on my tongue.

On the upside... Uh....

Kashi came back from Iraq physically unharmed, Naru & I had our 2nd year anniversary with a totally kick ass vacation to Disneyland and we got to spend a little extra time with some kick ass friends from out of town. Woo! The end.

Yes, 2009 seems to be a year from hell for a lot of people including my family. Lots of stuff dealing with medical and financial issues seems to be the norm for that year.

2010 already seems to be better. Last night someone flipped a car onto our lawn which is better than having it drive into our house. If it wasn't for a tree, it would have.
